Medanos is a town in the Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The town hosts the “”Fiesta Nacional del Ajo”” (National Garlic Festival) and is located in the Buenos Aires wines area that has started producing premium wines at the beginning of the 21st century. It is the head town of the Villarino Partido.
Since 1967 Medanos has hosted the “”Fiesta Nacional del Ajo”” (National Garlic Festival) to honour the people who cultivate and work the land to produce garlic. As this activity grew, garlic became an engine of the regional economy. The festivities typically take place in March and last three days, normally Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They include music concerts, dancing and a thanksgiving mass.
