Mananthavady is a small town located on the banks of the River Mananthavady. The town is located in the Wayanad District of Kerala. The town once ruled by a person called Raja Pazhassi, is the place where he was laid to rest. Hence, a the tomb of Raja Pazhassi is one of the most important heritage places in the town. Valiyoorkavu is a small temple that is located around 3 km from the town and this is one of the most important temples in the area, especially among the tribal people in the region. The other places of interest in the region are, Thirunelli Temple an important pilgrim center is located around 36 km from the town, Mananthavady Park, Malakari Temple & the Brahmasthan Temple, the Latin Church at the center of the town, Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctaury, Gandhi Park and Chandaanathode Pine Forest. The place experiences similar conditions to that of Wayanad.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at Kozhikode and if you are arriving by air, this is a good option. Opting for taxis from the airport is the easiest way to reach the town. Taxis can be hired from the stands that are located outside the airport. They charge around Rs 7 per km and they are the most comfortable option.

By Train : The closest rail head is also located at Kozhikode and it is a busy station that receives trains from many of the important cities in the country. The station is located around 106 km from the town of Mananthavady. Private taxis may be available from the place, however it is advisable to book taxis through the hotels.

By BUS : Mananthavady is a main bus stand in the region and there are frequent services from places such as Idukki, Sultan Bathery, Kannur and a few others. KSRTC buses are available in Super Fast type as well. Ordinary buses are the cheapest option. They are often crowded and are usually not comfortable. Tickets cost around Rs 100 from Kozhikode.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
