By Air : The nearest airport to Malvan is at Dabolim in Goa. The airport connects the domestic cities as well as international cities in U.K. and Germany. Daily services are also available from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and other important cities of India.
By Train : Malvan does not have a railway station of its own, and the nearest station is in the town of Sawantwadi, which lies 48 kilometres away. The town of Kudal also has a railway station, but not a major one like the one in Sawantwadi. Trains will ply to Mumbai, New Delhi and Vasco Da Gama and fares will range around Rs 200 to 600 for sleeper class.
By BUS : Some private luxury buses Parijat, Rameshwar, Jagdamba are also providing Mumbai-Malvan service at low fare. State Transport buses ply from Mumbai, Kolhapur, Pune to Malvan.
By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.

Ganesh Chaturthi ; Venue: N.A. ; Period : August-September ; Details: Ganesh Chaturthi, held in honor of Lord Ganesha, is one of the most popular hindu festivals in Malvan. The festival is also associated with abundant harvest and is celebrated as a thanksgiving festival. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated from 2 to 11 days and sometimes for even more.
The preparations start early. Houses are cleaned and decorated to welcome lord Ganesha. Artists prepare clay idol of god Ganesh in different shapes, sizes and paint them with attractive colors. A canopy is made using fruits and gourds, to house the idol of lord Ganesh.
Shimgyachi Holi ; Venue: N.A. ; Period : March – April ; Details: This is the interested traditional festival of konkan region. Holika Dahan or the lighting of bonfire takes place on the eve of Holi as a symbol of triumph of good over evil. The day is also popularly called ‘Chhoti Holi’ or the ‘Small Holi’. Play with the colour takes place on the next day. But in konkan, very few people used to play with colors. There are numerous legends associated with this ancient tradition and it is difficult to pin-point as to when actually the tradition started. Holikotsav finds a mention in the Vedas and Puranas. It is stated that during the Vedic period the sacred fire of Holi was burnt amidst the chanting of specific mantras which were intended for the destruction of the demonic forces.
Narali Pournima ; Venue: N.A. ; Period : August-September ; Details: The full moon day of the month of Shravan(August) is celebrated in different parts of Maharashtra Known as, the ‘Narali Purnima’ ,coconut day is dedicated to the sea god Varuna. This festival marks the end of the monsoons and is celebrated by the fishermen of Malvan. The fishermen paint their boats and coconuts are broken against them as offering to the sea god. It is said that to calm the sea fishermen offers coconut to sea. Narali Pournima also marks the advent of the new fishing season. Garlands made of flowers are also offered to the boats to mark the beginning of a new fishing season.
