The Maltese Cross Ranch cabin was originally placed concerning seven miles south of Medora within the jungly bottom-lands of the small Missouri. At Roosevelt’s request, ranch managers Sylvane Ferris and Bill Merrifield engineered a 1 and common fraction story cabin complete with a shingled roof and hole in the ground. Created of sturdy ponderosa logs, the cabin was thought-about somewhat of a “mansion” in its day, with picket floors and 3 separate rooms (kitchen, lounge and Roosevelt’s bedroom).
