Malahide (Canada 2006 Census population eight,828) may be a territorial division in Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. Malahide territorial division was named for Malahide Castle in Malahide, Ireland, birthplace of grant administrator commissioned military officer Thomas William Henry Fox Talbot in 1810. The village of Springfield was incorporated as a separate municipality in 1878.The current municipality was shaped in 1998 through AN consolidation of the first territorial division of Malahide, the previous territorial division of South Dorchester and also the former Village of Springfield. The Ontario Police faculty is found in Malahide, at the location of the previous Royal Canadian Air Force Station Aylmer, a coaching facility.
