Malabar region boasts of some 845 km of scenic coastlines. Flanked by the Western Ghats, the Arabian Sea & verdant expanses of deciduous forests; makes for a picture perfect backdrop. Enveloped in the region of Malabar are the towns of Kannur, Wayanad, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kasaragode. Travelers must visit the Thusharagiri Water Falls and the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary while in this region. Other places worth a visit include the countless beaches spread across the Malabar coastline, the Krishna Menon Museum in Kozhikode, the beach in Kappad and the crocodile farm and bird sanctuary in Peruvannamuzhi. You can also try taking a ride in one of the famous Malabar boats, which are popular among tourists visiting. Summers (March – May) are hot & humid with temperatures soaring as high as 39°C with a minimum of 29°C. Monsoons (June – Sept) in Malabar experience heavy rainfall due to the south west monsoons, followed by the north east monsoons from (Oct – Nov). Its best for tourists to avoid travelling during this time. Winters (Dec – Feb) are the best time to travel, when the temperatures have dropped to a minimum of 14°C to a maximum of 25°C.

By Air : The region of Malabar has an airport – the Calicut International Airport, located in Karipur, twenty two kilometers from the city of Kozhikode. Flights to all major Indian cities and cities in the Gulf, including Dubai, are available from here.
By Train : Malabar was one of the first regions to receive railway transport in India, and trains are available these days to almost all major Indian cities including Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore, Mangalore, Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai.
By BUS : Malabar is very well connected to the cities and towns of Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Madurai, Ooty, Mysore, Bangalore, Chennai, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Thrissur. The region spans the cities Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragode and all these cities are well connected by road. Government buses and private buses are available in air conditioned and non air conditioned types for the benefit of the public and fares may range around Rs 300 to 1,500.
