Makarpura Palace is three-storeyed palaces’ main feature was its Japanese styled 130-acre garden, that was designed by creator of Royal biology gardens, Kew, William Goldring, with a swimming pool and lake with swans. The garden had Italian titled ivory fountains that were activated to welcome the king. The Palaces has quite 100 rooms. The Italian styled building has ornate brick rooms with frame arch balconies and a wood stairway resulting in the primary floor.

Makarpura Palace of Gaekwad was inbuilt the year 1870 by maharajah Khende Rao and was extended and restored by maharajah Sayajirao Gaekwad III. Designed in Italian style, the Makarpura palace is now used as a training school by the Indian Air Force. A cervid park is found with reference to the palace and a summerhouse is additionally there.Maharaja Khanderao Gaekwad’s brother Malharrao Gaekwad, who ruled Baroda from 1870 to1875, destroyed some of this palace.
