Mahbubnagar is a large town that is located in the Mahbubnagar District of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The town is located around 100 km from the capital, Hyderabad and government buses ply frequently along this route. The city was previously known as Palamoor and is the headquarters of the District. There are many diamond mines in the district and the famous Kohinoor diamond is believed to have originated in these parts. Mahbubnagar is a famous for its diverse religious sites and there are many temples, churches and dargahs that are located in the town.There are many mosques that are located in the town and some of them are, Jama Masjid, Muneer Masjid, Medina Masjid, Mecca Masjid, Chand Sultana Masjid, Baba Miya Masjid, Ali Masjid and many others. Many of the dargahs that are located in the town are of old saints who lived in the area and they are revered by the local Muslim population. Some of the temples that are located in the town are the Sri Krishna Temple, Sri Ragavendra Temple, Sri Yellama Thali Temple, Sri Venkateshwara Swami temple, Sri Satya Sai Baba Temple, Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swami Temple and many others. These temples have splendid architecture as well. Mahbubnagar experiences semi arid type temperature. The town is located at an elevation of 1633 feet. Summers are similar to other parts of inland Andhra Pradesh. Temperatures are high and can rise beyond 40°C. Monsoon seasons brings good amount of rainfall to the area and temperatures gradually reduce after the onset of the rains. Winter months experience temperate climatic conditions and are the best time to visit the place.

By Air : The nearest airport is the Shamashabad International Airport that is located outside Hyderabad. The airport is around 80 km from the town. The international airport is well connected to the rest of the country. This is the best option for travelers who are arriving by air. Taxis are available from the airport and they are the best option to reach the town. Taxis charge around Rs 1300 for the trip.

By Train : Mahbubnagar has a railway station that is well connected to many parts of the State. Mahbubnagar is connected to Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and many other cities.

By BUS : Mahbubnagar is well connected to the rest of the State through buses. There are frequent APSRTC buses that connect the place to Hyderabad, Kurnool and Raichur. There are buses from Mumbai to Mahbubnagar as well. There are frequent APSRTC buses from both Raichur and Hyderabad.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
