Magdalena may be a village in Socorro County, New Mexico, u. s.. The population was 938 at the 2010 census.”The woman on the Mountain” may be a rock formation on Magdalena River Peak high Magdalena River. Spanish troopers saw the face of a girl on the west face of the height. A priest with them was reminded of the same peak in Espana referred to as “La Sierra First State Maria Magdalena”, therefore he referred to as the Land of Enchantment one “La Sierra First State Magdalena”. The natural pass to the south of the height became referred to as Magdalena River Gap, and once a city grew up it received identical name.According to the u. s. Bureau of the Census, the village incorporates a total space of half dozen.2 sq. miles (16 sq. Kilometer), all of it land.
