HistoryEdit

Madiwala Lake is an ancient water-body of Bangalore. The history of the tank can be traced back to 400 years. The tank was built to fulfil the demands of water for the purpose of irrigation, domestic use and primarily for washing clothes. The neighbouring areas of the lake were once occupied by traditional washer men for the purpose of residence. This is the reason the lake is popularly known as Madiwala Lake as Madiwala is the community of washer men.
