Lyon is a city in east-central France in the Rhone-Alpes region situated between Paris and Marseille.It is also marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lyon began as the Roman city of Lugdunum originally spread over a 500 hectare founded in 43 BC. Located at a distance of 470 kilometers to the southeast of Paris, Lyon today serves as the second largest metropolitan area within France.
Renowned for its historic and architectural landmarks, Lyon is witness to a two thousand year old history which has enabled it to prosper since found. Reputed as the ‘Gastronomy Capital of France’, Lyon is famous for an outstanding cuisine featuring several local specialties and stylish bistros.
Along with the historic Old Town, Lyon boasts of many riverside walking trails and an impressive amount of greenery which effectively soothe the senses. Pleasantly sandwiched between two powerful winding rivers, Lyon, with plenty of museums, gardens, shops and an entertaining nightlife is also home to a flourishing university complex attracting a student population from all around these areas.
