The Lyceum Theatre could be a Broadway theatre settled at 149 West forty fifth Street in midtown Manhattan, ny town. Opened in 1903, it’s one amongst the 2 oldest living Broadway venues (along with the New Amsterdam Theatre). The Lyceum is that the oldest endlessly operative legitimate theatre in ny town, and therefore the 1st Broadway Theatre ever to be granted landmark standing (1974). It’s one amongst the few theatres in ny that continues to control underneath its original name.Designed by architects Herts & Tallant, the Lyceum was engineered by promoter Daniel Frohman, substitution Frohman’s earlier Lyceum on Fourth Avenue that closed Gregorian calendar month 1902. The new Lyceum opened on Christian holy day, 1903 with the play The Proud blue blood. Frohman’s brother Charles served because the theater’s manager till his death in 1915.
