The community of Lumsden, erst called Cat Harbour, is found on the Straight Shore of Newfoundland and geographical area close to communities like Musgrave Harbour and Newtown. Lumsden was erst created from 2 settlements, Lumsden North on the tip of a sandy dry land and Lumsden South on the most road. Though the harbour in Lumsden isn’t ideal as a result of it’s not protected , Lumsden will have nice fishing grounds.
Lumsden, then referred to as Cat Harbour, was visited as early because the eighteenth century by French fishermen due to its sensible inshore fishing grounds. It absolutely was a neighborhood of the French Shore till 1783. In 1836 census the population was recorded as ninety seven for Lumsden and Cape Freels combined.
