Lima was popularly known as the “City of Kings”, during the Spanish colonial rule and the most important and prosperous city in Spanish America. Discovered in the year 1535, by the Spanish Conqueror Francisco Pizarro, Lima is Peru’s capital city, located by the foothills of the Andes mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. This fast-paced metropolis is actually the second biggest desert-city in existence. The diverse landscape of this city is the major attraction, offering contemporary shopping centers, marvelous high-rise hotels, exclusive restaurants offering delicious seafood and hot and happening nightlife with numerous entertainment venues.Climate is mild and comfortable, despite being located in the tropics and in a desert.

Lima’s beaches, located along the northern and southern ends of the city, are heavily visited during the summer months. Restaurants, clubs and hotels have opened in these places to serve the beachgoers. Lima has a vibrant and active theater scene, including classic theater, cultural presentations, modern theater, experimental theater, dramas, dance performances, and theater for children.

Amongst the city attractions, the most popular are Palacio Torre Tagle, which is the exceptional Spanish colonial mansion and a best example of Lima’s colonial architecture. Museo de la NaciĆ³n (National Museum) of Lima is the finest and biggest museums in Peru and South America, displaying archaeological opulence of prehistoric Peru. Park of The Legends, Lima Cathedral and Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology are other popular attractions in Lima, Peru.A tour of the city’s churches is a popular circuit among tourists.
