The Lewis H. Latimer House, additionally referred to as the Latimer House or the Lewis Latimer House, was created within the Queen Anne sort of design between 1887 and 1889 by the Sexton family. It served because the home of the African-American discoverer Lewis Howard Latimer from 1903 to 1928, and is currently operated as a depository dedicated to the inventor’s work. The house remained property of the Latimer family till 1963.Currently, the Lewis H. Latimer home is closely-held by the the big apple town Department of Parks and Recreation, operated by the Lewis H. Latimer Fund, Inc., and may be a member of the Historic House Trust. It’s set at 34-41 137th Street in Flushing, New York. Originally set on Holly Avenue, the Latimer House was moved to its current point Leavitt Field in 1988 once vulnerable by demolition. It had been selected as a landmark by the the big apple town Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1995 following a hearing.
