Leverett may be a city in Franklin County, Massachusetts, us. The population was one,663 as of the 2000 census. It’s a part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan applied mathematics space. In keeping with the Massachusetts FCCC, Leverett was initial settled within the seventeenth century once pioneers developed the Swampfield Plantation. The primary permanent settlement, however, wasn’t established till 1750, and therefore the settlers formally petitioned Sunderland to become their own city in 1774. The city was named for John Leverett, the 20 th governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
