Lepakshi is a small village that is located in the Anantapur District of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The village is easily accessible from and it is located around 15 from the town of Hindupur. It is situated close to the Karnataka border and taxis are the best way to reach the place. There are many archeological sites that are located in the village and it is known for its historical importance. The village is famous for its temples and there are three temples that are dedicated to Veerabhadra, Shiva and Vishnu respectively. The is famous and many visitors can be seen in the temple. The temple is built in the Style of the Vijayanagar Kingdom and is well known for its excellent architecture. This can be of good interest for architecture buffs and other people interested in the ancient structures. The region is famous for its many inscriptions and carvings. There is a Nandi Statue that is located in the village and it is one of the main attractions. Many inscriptions in the Kannada language can be seen in the village. Most of these inscriptions date back many centuries. Most of the temples have excellent sculptures. The place is also known for its murals. Climatic conditions in the village are hot during the summer and cool during the winter season Temperatures reduce drastically after the onset of the monsoons. September to February is the best time to visit the place. Winters are relatively cooler and are a good time to visit. Humidity is generally low and conditions are dry for most parts of the year.

Lepakshi small village located in Ananatapur district of Andhra Pradesh, Lepakshi is known for its ancient monuments and the largest monolithic Nandi in the entire subcontinent. Just 120 km from Bengaluru. The temples in Lepakshi are noted for their Vijayanagar style of architecture, of the shrines to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Veerabhadra. The last one is more popular because of its history, architecture and carved pillars.Lepakshi, means ‘rise o bird’ in Sanskrit. According to legend Jatayu, fell here after being mortally injured by Ravan after trying to prevent the abduction of Sita. As Jatayu lay dying, he was found by Lord Rama and Lakshman. Hence the place came to be called as ‘Lepakshi’.

By Air : Lepakshi can be reached from Bangalore and is situated around 125 km from the city. The village is located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad Highway and the roads are in good condition. Bangalore Airport is the closest international airport and it is the best option for those who are arriving by air. The airport is situated around 100 km from the village. There are taxis that are available from the airport and they are a good option. They charge around Rs 1300 for the trip. Taxis can also be booked through the hotels and they are a safe option.
By Train : Hindupur Railway Station is the closest rail head. The station is well connected to the rest of the State and many trains pass through the station. Some of the main trains that pass through the station are the Guntur-Yesvantpur Express, Karnataka Express, Bangalore-Jaipur Express, Udyan Express and the Lokamanya Tilak- Coimbatore Express. For those who are arriving by train, the best option is to hire a taxi from the station to the village.
By Bus : Hindupur can be reached by bus from places such as Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. There are frequent government buses that are available from Hyderabad. Some private operators are available from Bangalore as well.
