Lengauer Chapel

Detail InformationEdit

About halfway along the path from Söll out into the Inn Valley, on the Juffingerjöchl saddle, stands a Chapel dedicated to the Holy Mother, St. Anne in Lengau. It was first mentioned in official records in 1664. The present building was erected in 1727. It can be assumed that St. Anne, the favourite patron saint of colliers, was chosen because of the neighbouring coal mines of Bad Häring (St. John the Baptist having been the patron saint in earlier days). In like manner, the lions´ heads carved into the sidepieces of the chairs (Daniel!) were typical mining motifs.
