Leif, the Discoverer could be a bronze sculpture of Leif Ericson created by yankee sculptor Anne Whitney in 1887. It’s situated at capital of Alaska Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The us of America.
The figure is some eight feet tall; the higher base is some a hundred and ten x eighty four x eighty four inches; the lower base is some twelve x nine x ninety six inches. The sculpture is bronze; the bottom is red arenaceous rock.Shading his eyes to scan the gap, Leif Ericson stands on an outsized red arenaceous rock pedestal. In contrast to alternative depictions of Ericson, here he’s immature and well-shaven. He wears a scale armor shirt, ornate with breast plates and a decorated belt. Underneath, he wears a tunic and leggings with animal skin sandals.
He carries a container over his shoulder and a knife in a very ornamental sheath at his aspect. On the arenaceous rock base, the inscription reads, Leif, the discoverer/ son of Erik/ World Health Organization sailed from Iceland/ and landed on this continent/ A.D. 1000. In grapheme letters, it additionally reads, Leif, son of Erik the Red.
