Lee may be a city in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, u. S.. It’s a part of the Massachusetts, Massachusetts Metropolitan applied math space. Lee, which incorporates the villages of South and East Lee, is a component of The Berkshires country. Early industries enclosed agriculture and lumbering, with lime created in kilns. Operated by water power from the Housatonic, mills made textiles and wire. However trade became the principal business, with the primary mill, known as the Willow Mill, inbuilt 1806 at South Lee by Samuel Church. The Columbia Mill was established in 1827, and would be the primary to provide 100 percent groundwood newspaper to The ny Times. By 1857, there have been twenty five paper mills in Lee. The Smith Paper Company discovered the way to manufacture paper entirely from pulp in 1867, and thru the decade was the most important producer of paper within the country. Today, Lee has one tiny trade facility closely-held by chalcedony Specialty Papers,Inc. The plant produces specialty paper. Schweitzer-Mauduit declared in 2007 that the previous Smith Paper Company mills would draw in 2008, golf stroke nearly one hundred seventy individuals out of labor.
