Detail InformationEdit
The Laurie Beechman Theatre (formerly the geographical region restaurant Downstairs Theatre Bar) is associate 80-seat house within the basement of the geographical region restaurant at 407 West forty second Street within the Manhattan Plaza flat advanced simply west of Times Square. The theatre is called for cabaret performing artist Laurie Beechman.
The theatre opened in 1983 by geographical region restaurant owner Steve Olsen. The Cafe/theatre was in Manhattan Plaza that had been engineered specifically to deal with those active in New York’s theatre scene. Bruce Willis was a barman within the building. Williams, dramatist and Sean Penn were regulars.
Olsen experimented with the venue giving it as jazz and cabaret. Lewis Black, Rand Foerster, and Rusty Magee planned staging plays at what was then referred to as ab initio the geographical region restaurant Downstairs Theatre Bar. Over a course of fourteen years Black was the dramatist in residence and would author forty plays there and Magee was the musical director. Quite one,500 one-act plays are performed at the theatre. Ab initio the theatre was strictly drinks solely. But it’s evolved to incorporate dinner before the show. Joan Rivers and Tibeto-Burman Finley typically perform there.
