L’Anse aux Meadows (from the French L’Anse-aux-Méduses or “Jellyfish Cove”) is associate degree archaeologic website on the north tip of Newfoundland within the province of Newfoundland and geographical region. Discovered in 1960, it’s the sole legendary website of a Norse or Scandinavian village in Canada, and in North America outside of island.
Dating to round the year one thousand, L’Anse aux Meadows remains the sole wide accepted instance of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact and is notable for its potential reference to the tried colony of Vinland established by Leif Ericson round the same fundamental quantity or, additional loosely, with Norse exploration of the Americas.
