Lamesa may be a city in and so the county seat of Dawson County, Texas, u. S.. The population was 9,952 at the 2000 census. Placed south of town on the plateau, Lamesa was primarily based in 1903. Most of the economy relies on oxen agriculture and cotton farming. The Preston E. Smith jail unit, named for the previous governor of yankee state, is found merely outside of Lamesa. Per the u. S. Bureau, the city includes a complete house of 4.8square miles (12Square kilometers), all of it land.
