Lakkopetra is a village of northwestern Achaea, located 10 km NW of Kato Achaia, 4 km ENE of Araxos, approx. 35 km NW of Patras and 72 km N (old 77 km) from Pyrgos. Mavri Myti, its nearby beach is about 3 km N. Its neighboring communities are Araxos to the west, Limnochori to the southeast and Kalamaki to the east. It lies in the northeastern part of the municipal unit of Larissos bordering Sageika in the east. The community’s length is about 1 km, where much of the buildings are lying next to the road connecting Araxos and Kato Achaia.
North of the village are small hills. It is famous for its beaches while the hotels are in the northeastern part. The southern part remains flat and used for farming – The village is famous worldwide for the potatoes it produces. Mavri Myti, in the northern part has a Sandy Beach, and a hill founded to the east. Beach plants are in the western part of Mavri Myti. It includes a view of parts of Messolongi and much of southern Aetolia-Acarnania with the Gulf of Patras. West of Lakkopetra is a military base numbered 118 near the community boundary and further north is a small area of pine trees.
