The Ladies’ Mile Historic District was selected in could 1989, by the ny town Landmark Preservation Commission to preserve associate irregular district of 440 buildings on twenty eight blocks and elements of blocks in Manhattan, from roughly eighteenth Street to twenty fourth Street and from Park Ave. South to west of the Avenue of terra firma (Sixth Avenue). Community teams like the Drive to guard the Ladies’ Mile District and therefore the Historic Districts Council campaigned heavily for the standing.
Between the warfare and warfare I, the district was the placement of a number of New York’s most known malls, as well as Lord & Taylor, B. Altman, W. & J.
