The Ladd Observatory is Associate in Nursing astronomical observatory of Brown in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. The observatory was dedicated in 1891 and is called for helper Victor Herbert W. Ladd.The main telescope may be a twelve inches (30 cm) refractor with a lens created by John Brashear following the planning of Charles S. Hastings. The equatorial mount and mechanical clock drive were created by George N. Saegmuller.Besides astronomical analysis, Ladd sent out a signal for many years. Once they set to prevent the service within the Nineteen Seventies, they found that no-one was presently receiving it.Ladd Observatory was designed by the Providence-based firm of Stone, Carpenter, and Willson.The building was supplemental to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.H. P. Lovecraft had free access to the observatory for many years and wrote physics articles for Providence newspapers based mostly upon his study there between 1906 and 1918.
