La Fortaleza (The Fortress) is that the current official residence of the Governor of Puerto law. It had been engineered between 1533 and 1540 to defend the harbor of urban center. The structure is additionally called Palacio American state island (Santa Catalina’s Palace). It’s the oldest govt mansion within the New World. It had been listed by UNESCO in 1983 as a part of the planet Heritage web site “La Fortaleza and urban center National Historic Site”. Throughout the 1640 reconstruction, the chapel of island, that originally existed outside of the walls, was destroyed and was integrated to the walls of the structure, leading to the alternate name Santa Catalina’s Palace.
