Kuujjuaq is that the largest Eskimo village in Nunavik, Quebec, Canada. it’s the executive capital of Nunavik and lies on the western shore of the Koksoak watercourse. Kuujjuaq antecedently was referred to as Fort Chimo. Chimo could be a pronunciation of the Eskimo phrase saimuuq, “Let’s shake hands!” Early fur traders were usually welcome with this phrase that they eventually adopted because the name of the sales outlet. A fictional account of this naming is found within the novel Ungava by Henry M. Robert archangel Ballantyne.
