Kundapur is a city located in the Udupi District in the State of Karnataka. There are many temples and other historical places to see in the city of Kundapur. The city has many lakes and is one of the most beautiful places in the State of Karnataka. Kundapur is easily accessible from the major cities in the State as well other cities in the Sothern India. It is famous for being a trading center during the middle ages. The city and the nearby village of Basrur had a flourishing trade with the Middle Eastern countries and many other countries. Kundapur was once ruled by the Kings of Baindoor and many of their buildings and temples can still be seen today. Kundapur also has many Portuguese and Dutch influences as it was part of their settlements. The fort which was built during the colonial period is one of the most visited places in the city. The city was also ruled by the British after they defeated folk hero Tipu Sultan. Kundapur has a port which was once a flourishing trade center for the colonial powers. The city can be accessed from Mangalore, Bangalore and many other important cities in the South such as Chennai.

Airport taxis are the best option to reach Kundapur from the airport. Pre paid taxis are available from stands in the airport and the fares are levied according to the number of km travelled
