Krimpen aan den IJssel is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 28800 in 2006, and covers an area of 8.93 square kilometers (3.45 mile²) of which 1.10 square kilometers (0.42 mile²) is water.
