Kotithirtha is a sacred water body set close to the Mahabaleshwara Temple in Gokarna. This sacred tank is believed to contain one large integer sacred springs, so the name Kotithirtha. Kotithirtha is encircled by several temples and devotees return here to wash within the tank before getting into them. a number of the pilgrims return here to perform rituals for his or her departed adored ones. The tank has granite steps created round the banks. secure stone platforms are designed close to the tank to perform the rituals. alittle temple lies at the middle of the tank. On the southern bank of Kotithirtha one can even pay court at the Varadeshvara linga, put in by Sage Agasthya.
