Detail InformationEdit
The beginnings of the former moated castle can be traced back to the second decade of the 13th century. The “new castle” was first mentioned at the end of the 16th century. Another part in renaissance style was added by Franz Earl of Kery in the 17th century. Nowadays thousands of visitors marvel at the majestic and picturesque scene.
The castle was revitalized by Prof. Martha Bolldorf, who is the present owner, and is now a centre of cultural interaction. In 1972 an initiative to revive tourism in the area was launched, and thus the first series of theatre performances took place at the castle. In 1988 Mr. Rudolf Buczolich was appointed art director, and since then has been promoting Kobersdorf as a centre of comedy with theatre performances aiming at entertainment, but also at making people think.
