Kinnaur is known for its fragrant fruit orchards, 3 majestic mountain ranges and nerve racking adventure sports. Surrounded by Tibet to the east, the village has a tremendous Buddhist influence and hence has many old and beautiful monasteries.A small and beautiful hamlet in Himachal Pradesh. The area has two valleys, the famous Nako lake and three famous wild life sanctuaries. Kinnaur is one of the most scenic villages where tourists can enjoy trekking to the KInner Kailash and various small and unexplored villages around Kinnaur. The climate of Kinnaur remains pleasant for most part of the year. Summers (June to September) is the best time to visit as the temperature remains cool (10°C and 20°C) and the scenic beauty is at its maximum. Winters (October to May) is a good time for enjoying various adventure sports. The weather falls to freezing points and might be uncomfortable for a few people. Monsoon is very less in Kinnaur and the climate remains dry for most part of the year.

By Air : The closest airport is located in the hill town of Shimla. It is located around 267 km from the main village in Kinnaur called Kalpa. There are two main operators that provide flights services to the Shimla airport and the place is connected to the cities of Delhi and Kullu. Upon arrival you can opt for a taxi from Shimla to the region of Kinnaur. Taxis cost around Rs 7 per km for a non A/C sedan.

By Train : The closest railway station is also located at Shimla and this is around 244 km from Kinnaur. The station receives a train from the Kalka station and this is another way to reach the place. However this is a popular mode of transport and many people use this train.

By BUS : Buses and taxis are available at Shimla and Rampur to the Kinnaur region. Buses cost between Rs 100 and Rs 150.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.

Sazo festival

Sazo festival

Sazo ; Venue:  N.A. ; Period :  January ; Details:  Sazo is celebrated in January. On this day, the locals bathe in the natural springs. Poltus, rice, pulses, vegetables, meat, Halva, Chilta are some of the dishes prepared on this occasion. In the morning the family god is worshiped with these offerings.
Phagul or Suskar ; Venue:  N.A. ; Period :  February-March ; Details:  Phagul or Suskar is celebrated in February-March and goes on for a fortnight. In this festival the spirit of Kanda (Peaks), called Kali, is worshiped. Each day of the festival is called by different names and several interesting traditions are followed. On the last day a feast is prepared.
Dakhraini Festival ; Venue:  N.A. ; Period :  July ; Details:  Dakhraini festival is celebrated in July. The village deity is brought out of the temple and the villagers present a folk dance before her. Zongor and Loskar flower garlands are offered to the goddess and later distributed to the villagers.
