Kingsport may be a town in Sullivan and Hawkins counties within the U.S. State of Tennessee. The population per the 2010 census is forty eight,205. The name may be a simplification of “King’s Port”, originally touching on the world on the Holston watercourse referred to as King’s Boat Yard, the top of navigation for the Tennessee depression. Kingsport is that the largest town within the Kingsport–Bristol–Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan applied mathematics space (MSA), that had a population of 309,544 as of 2010.
The Metropolitan applied mathematics space may be a part of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined applied mathematics space – unremarkably referred to as the “Tri-Cities” region. Census information from 2006–2008 for the Tri-Cities Combined applied mathematics space estimates a population of 496,454. Kingsport is often enclosed in what’s referred to as the Mountain Empire, that spans a little of southwest Virginia and also the mountainous counties in Tennessee to the east.
