Kimball may be a city in Brule County, South Dakota, u. s.. The population was 703 at the 2010 census. per the u. s. Census Bureau, town incorporates a total space of three.09 sq. miles (8.00 km2), all of it land. Kimball was 1st called Stake forty eight on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul line going west out of Mitchell, South Dakota. In 1880, the primary homestead claims were created within the section of Stake forty eight. Kimball was organized as a village within the spring of 1883. it absolutely was named for J.W. Kimball, a surveyor.
