Keyano College is a fully accredited comprehensive community college headquartered in Fort McMurray, in Wood Buffalo region Alberta, Canada which serves post-secondary courses and programs to communities throughout Northern Alberta through both in-classroom and distance education. A large portion of the student population is registered in skilled trades training for employers in the Fort McMurray oilsands.
Keyano College also collaborates with Athabasca University, University of Lethbridge, University of Alberta and University of Calgary to enable students to earn academic degrees in many disciplines without leaving Fort McMurray. Keyano is currently the only institution in Canada offering a Musical Instrument Repair Cooperative Education diploma.
When the province of Alberta appointed a Board of Governors to serve as the decision-making body for the institution, the school officially became a public, community college.Keyano College has expanded to include a family housing complex, student residence, Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre (SSWC), three campuses, and satellite locations which provide education to many northern communities.
