Kerr town may be a town settled in Marion County, Florida, USA. It lies on metal 316 or so 3 miles west of SR nineteen, on the north shore of Lake Kerr. Kerr town was the second city in Marion County, platted in 1884. The city grew to a hundred residents, a hotel, sawmill, sales outlet, pharmacy, school/church, and a post workplace. It served because the stage stop for travelers travelling from the St. John’s watercourse to Ocala. Originally a cotton Plantation throughout the war, it flourished as associate degree orange-growing community.
The community deserted the city when the freezes of 1894-95. In 1884 there have been 205 acres (0.83 km2) and a platted 26-block city with streets like Michigan, American state and Ohio. Junis Terry, a doctor from Chicago and his adult female arrived and in-built 1885 the Lake Kerr House. This edifice was 3 stories high and was manufactured from virgin pine. Despite the precautions of taking down all the encompassing trees, the edifice burned down in 1907, reportedly by combustion.
