Located in the hill ranges of Baba Budan Giri which has the legacy of bearing the Karnataka’s tallest peak Mullayanagiri – Kemmanagundi is a nature lovers & adventure enthusiast haven! The Krishnaraje Wodeyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore used this place as the royal summer retreat, as the result of which the hill station has got its second name as KR hills. Kemmanagundi, the name is derived from three Kannada words, Kempu – red, Mannu – soil & Gundi – place, together meaning a place with red soil. The smell of unspoilt mountain air, the chirping of birds & the sounds of gurgling streams – Kemmanagundi is sure to revitalize and rejuvenate your body, mind & soul. By BUS : Kemmanagundi is well connected by bus services. Private and public transport buses connect frequently to Chikmaglur (55 km), Bangalore (248 km) and Mangalore (190 km). A/C deluxe and luxury buses are available from Bangalore and Mangalore to Kemmanagundi, which cost about Rs 4 per km.
