Kelzer Temple is the Varad Vinayaka Temple houses the idol of Lord Ganesh, which is also known as one of the Ganesh temple at Kelzer, from Ashtavinayaka in Vidarbha region. Kelzer Temple, also known as the Varad Vinayaka Temple, is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is believed that the idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered during the period of Arya. A stepped well is situated near the temple which is believed to have been built by Bhima, one of the Pandavas. It was constructed during the reign of the Vakataka dynasty between 250 AD and 500 AD.

Kelzer Temple : Historical background:- As per Vashistha Puran (Vedic Scripture). This place was known as “Ekchakra Nagar” as per Vashistha Puran and Mahabharata. In the Vashistha Puran it is mentioned that Sage Vashishtha – Lord Rama’s Guru had inhabited here and that for his religious cores this temple was founded. It is also indicated that around that time the river Wardha was created. According to the scripture, this Lord Ganpati was known as ‘Varad Vinayak’ and the river Wardha as Varad. The ancient time prevailed prior to the birth of Lord Rama and it is said that the sage Vaishishtha had left this holy place after the birth of Lord Rama.
As per Mahabharata:- It is mentioned that while Kunti’s sons- Pandawas inhabited in Ekchakra Nagar, they had killed the demon named as Bakasur. That place is in North-west direction near Buddha Vihar alias “Tondya Rakshas Maidan” on Wardha-Nagpur national highway. The temple which exists on the hill is surrounded by beautiful nature and it was known to be a great tourism place ever since the regime of Vakataka Dinasty. The fort had five bastians and three vast fortifications contructed out of soil and stones. There is a big and beautiful rectangular well: a ‘Kushawarti Vihir’ known as Ganesh Kund. Many devotees use the holy water. After Wakataka dynasty this place is believed to be the capital of King Pravarsen as recorded in ancient history.
