Kawardha is a town that is located in the state of Chhattisgarh in the Kabirdham district. The town is known for its temples and the main ones are the Bhoramdheo Temples. They are situated at a distance of 16 kilometers from the town and one can see many exquisite carvings and sculptures in these temples. They were built in the 11th century and are still relatively well preserved despite their age. The architectural style is unique and this is one of the most visited tourist places in the area. One can see both devotees and tourists at these temples. There are many tribes that live in the Kawardha region and they have their own cultures and traditions. Visiting them can be an enlightening and interesting experience. However they are mainly present in the forest regions of the place and it might be difficult to gain access to them. The Kawardha Palace is an interesting place to visit while visiting the town. The Saroda Reservoir is also an interesting picnic spot and many families can be seen here. Some of the other tourist places include the Sahaspur Wildlife Sanctuary, Ujiyar Sagar, and the Radha Krishna Temple. One can see many species of wildlife at the sanctuary.

Kawardha is a small town in the State of Chhattisgarh which was previously a part of Madhya Pradesh. The place is situated in the region around the Maikal Ranges and lies to the South east of the Kanha National Park and to the South of River Sakri. The presence of tribal inhabitants like the Gond and the Baiga tribes further enrich the charm of the place. Let us now get to know about the History of Kawardha. Kawardha has been officially declared as a district in July 1998 after which the District of Kawardha was renamed as Kabirdham. The popularity of Kabir Sahib in the region generated by the descendants of one of the disciples of Kabir named Dharmdas is the sole reason for such a name given to the place which was the seat of Kabir Panthis prior to Damakhera, which is situated in the district of Raipur.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at the city of Raipur and if you are planning to arrive by air you can land at the airport and opt for one of the numerous taxis that are available outside. The Raipur airport is connected to some of the main cities such as Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad and Kolkata. Taxis cost around Rs 7 per kilometer for the trip and this is the easiest way to reach the town of Kawardha.

By Train : The closest railway station is located at Bilaspur, which is located at a distance of 125 kilometers from the town of Kawardha. The place is connected to Chennai, Pune, Tirupathi and some other places in the state. Tickets prices from Chennai to Bilaspur for a second class sleeper ticket are around Rs 422.

By BUS : State buses ply from Bilaspur and Raipur to the town of Kawardha. They are frequently available and tickets are cheap. The travel time will take around two hours.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
