Kaporthala is a city in the state of Punjab in the district of Kaporthala. The city is a good mix of modern and historical culture. The city has a rich cultural heritage that goes back to many centuries and was a princely state as well.The buildings that are located in and around the city are built in Indo-French style. There are many exquisite buildings and gardens that one can see in and around the place. Many palaces can be found in the city of Kaporthala as well.Kaporthala experiences climate that is very similar to much of the other parts of the state of Punjab. The conditions are extreme and vary tremendously according to the seasons. Summers are typically hot and dry and the heat can be stifling. The short monsoon season brings substantial rainfall and humidity also increases. Winters are bitterly cold and temperatures can drop rapidly.The summer season starts in the month of March and ends in June.Some of the main points of attraction in the city are the Jagatjit Palace, Moorish Mosque, Elysee Palace, Jagatjit Club, Shalimar Gardens, The State Gurdwara, Panch Mandir, Kanjli Wetlands, Gurudwara Ber Sahib and Pushpa Gujaral Science City.The architecture of the Sainik School (also known as the Jagatjit Palace) is based on the Versailles Palace and it is located in an area of over 200 acres. It is one of the main examples of the French architectural style in the country.Another interesting piece of architectural value is the Jagatjit Club which is built in Greco-Roman Pantheon style. This is a popular place to visit in the city. It is based on the design of the Athens Acropolis.

By Air : The closest airport is located in the city of Amritsar and this is an international airport as well. Many airline operators have flights from the city of Delhi and this makes it the ideal option. Amritsar also receives a constant stream of flights from many countries in the Middle East. Taxis are available at the airport and since the distance is short, the trip is comfortable and relatively inexpensive. They cost around Rs 800 for the trip.

By Train : The closest major railway station is located in the city of Jalandhar. The station is connected to most of the cities and towns in the state and one can reach the place easily. The distance from Jalandhar to Kaporthala is around 19 km and taxis charge around Rs 300 for the trip.

By BUS : State run buses are a preferred mode of transport and one can reach Kaporthala from Amritsar and Jalandhar by buses as well. Tickets from Jalandhar cost around Rs 20 and this is the cheapest option. Government buses might be crowded and finding seating might be difficult.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
