Kanherkhed is famously known as village of “Scindia dynasty of Gwalior ”, Ranoji Shinde was Patil of Kanherkhed. Kanherkhed is having long history of sacrifice; there were many warriors from the village who fought in the great war of Panipat. There are 2 monuments which always remember memory of those martyrs of Panipat, this is the unique in its own kind of monument. The name Kanherkhed could have come from name “Kanhereshwar” the lord Shiva or from the “Kanheri devi” which is the goddess people worship. The members of the Scindia family still come to worship the both gods when there is any family ritual.
