The city of Kaedi is one of the most culturally diverse regions of Mauritania. The small city is inhibited with various ethnic groups such as Pulaar, Soninke, Black Moors and White Moors. Located on the banks of the famous Senegal River at a point where the river meets the Gorgol River, Kaedi attracts numerous tourists throughout the year towards its wide variety of places to see.
The local markets along with the medical center attract the attention of majority of the travelers. The unique market reflecting the sub Saharan culture sells wide variety of local handicrafts, souvenirs and consumer items. Different kinds of animals such as zebu, goat and sheep roaming freely on the vast open lands offer great adventure and excitement. Besides this, the national museum and heritage parks are other important places to visit in Kaedi.
