The Juyushi Mosque was built in Imam Mustansir era under Badr al-Jamali in 1085 AD. This is one of historical mosque of Egypt of Fatimid Caliphate era.
It is known for architectural beauty. A striking feature of the interior is the Qibla (mihrab), which is framed by a panel of alternating bands of Qur’anic inscriptions and arabesque leaf patterns, all in carved stucco. This Mosque/mashhad was also known as a victory monument commemorating vazier Badr’s restoration of order for the Imam Mustansir.
The mosque in its present shape is renovated by Fatimid / Dawoodi Bohra 52 nd dai Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin.
