Junagadh is district in the Indian state of Gujarat. The city is the 7th largest in Gujarat, in western India, located at the foot of the Girnar hills, 355 km south west of state capital Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. The name Junagadh means Old Fort. Various famous rulers such as the Kshatrapas, Mauryans, Chudasamas, Guptas, Vilabhis, Gujarat Sultans and Babi Nawabs have reigned in this part of the world. The architecture and rich cultural heritage of Junagadh stands as the edifice of the political and religious influences of the various rulers who have ruled the region. Four major religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam, have left a substantial influence on Junagadh. However, a stronger influence of the rulers of Junagadh was felt on the architecture of the city. During the reign of Babi Nawabs, Junagadh was the capital of the Junagadh State.

By Air : The nearest airport is at Keshod, which is around 40 km from Junagad. It is a domestic airport and its connectivity is limited. The nearest international airport is at Ahmedabad and the airport is well connected to the major parts of the country and abroad.
By Train : The city of Junagadh has a major railway station, and this station is well connected through rail to the cities of Ahmedabad (Somnath Express), Veraval (Jbp Somnath Exp) and Rajkot (Vrl Bct Pass Ex). You can also opt for trains from locations in nearby states to Junagadh. Train fares to Ahmedabad will range around Rs 100.
By Bus : Buses to the city of Junagadh will be available from all nearby locations from within the state and from Maharashtra. Regular buses will be available to the city of Junagadh from Rajkot and Sasan, which lie nearby. Bus fares from these two places will be very minimal due to their proximity and charges will range around Rs 20 to 50 only. The journey from Sasan or Rajkot will take only two hours in an average. You can also opt for buses from Una, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar and Veraval to the city of Junagadh. Bus fares from the city of Ahmedabad will range around Rs 115 for the eight hour trip. Bus fares from Vereval, Jamnagar and Una will range around Rs 45, 70 and 65 respectively, for travelling through Government buses. Private buses to the city of Junagadh will also run from Vadodara, Mumbai and Udaipur.
