The John Gilmore James Whitcomb Riley home is a historic point Tallahassee, Florida. It’s set at 419 East President Jefferson Street. On August 1, 1978, it absolutely was extra to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. John G. James Whitcomb Riley was a distinguished member of the African yankee community in Tallahassee. He was born a slave in 1857 and died a have in 1954. James Whitcomb Riley was the principal of the Lincoln Academy from 1892 1926 and that became Lincoln highschool. The house, a vernacular wood framed home, was made in 1895 and remained within the family till 1970. These days it’s called the toilet G. James Whitcomb Riley Center/Museum of African yankee History and Culture.
