Jhumri Telaiya is a town that is located in the Koderma district of the state of Jharkhand. The town is well known for being a mica mining center. The place has a reasonably well developed infrastructure. One can see many different festivals being celebrated in the town and some of the main ones are dussehra, durga pooja and holi. There are a few places that one can visit here as well. The Jhanda Chowk is the main commercial center of the town and many locals congregate at this place during the evening. The other main attraction in the region is the Telaiya Dam. This is a place that is worth visiting and there are a few picnic spots that are located here as well. Some of the other tourist attractions include Jharna Kund, Dhawajhadhari Pahar and Ithkhori. One can also visit the nearby places of Jhalpo and Gujhandi. The town of Koderma is also located nearby and this place is worth checking out while travelling to the region. There are a few waterfalls and trekking sites that are located a short distance away from the town and these are good places for a day trip as well.

By Air : The city of Ranchi has the nearest airport and this is situated at a distance of 120 kilometers from the town of Jhumri Telaiya. There are regular scheduled flights from places such as Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai to the airport and this is an ideal option for those who are arriving by air. Taxis are available at the airport and most travelers opt for this. This is a convenient way to reach the town from the airport. They charge around Rs 7 per kilometer for a non A/C sedan.

By Train : The closest railhead is located at Koderma and this is around five kilometers away from the town. Trains from different parts of the country pass through the station and this is a comfortable way to reach the place. The station is connected to cities such as New Delhi, Ahmadabad, Kolkata, Bikaner, Patna, Ajmer, Allahabad and Bhubaneswar. Tier Two A/C tickets from Delhi to Jhumri Telaiya cost between Rs 1300 and Rs 1700.
