Jhalong is an offbeat tourist destination in the state of West Bengal near Kalimpong. The region experiences a mild climate for many parts of the year and it is ideal for tourism.

Jhalong is a small village situated on the banks of river Jaldhaka, near India-Bhutan border in the Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. It is just 99 kilometers from Shiliguri, towards Bindu.Now a day, Jhalong is very populous among adventure enthusiasts and those who are interested in nature vacations. Jhalong is situated on the foothills of the Himalayas and there are numerous activities that you can engage in. Near by Dam at bindu attracts various hill birds as well as migratory birds. Trekking is a popular activity in the region and the main routes lead to Tangta and Todey. The hill station is situated near the Indo-Bhutan border on the banks of the Jaldhaka River, on the way to Bindu. Jaldhaka Hydro Electricity Project on the Jaldhaka River is a major attraction in this area. Bird lovers can enjoy a varied collection of hill birds as well as migratory water fowl here.

By Air : The nearest airport is situated outside the town of Siliguri. The Bagdogra Airport is well connected to several cities across the country and you can reach the place from cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. Frequent flights are also available from the cities of Bangkok and Paro. Air travel is convenient and the airport is around 16 kilometers away from the town.

By Train : The nearest railhead is situated in Jalpaiguri and this is the best bet for those who are arriving by air. Trains from many cities pass through the station. You can opt for a train from cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Chennai. Trains are an economical mode of transport and second class sleeper tickets from New Delhi to Jalpaiguri cost around Rs 430.
