It had been built by George S. Richardson. Originally, associate degree Eighteen Eighties bridge stood on the positioning. This structure chiefly served self-propelled vehicle traffic and was inadequate for cars. A good Depression-era construction bond was provided to fund the creation of a brand new auto-centric four lane route bridge.

When town named the road approaching the bridge when incumbent Republican city manager George Lysle, they planned that the Youghiogheny crossing receive an equivalent appellation. However, the FDR administration contended that construction bucks couldn’t be accustomed memorialize living officeholders. As a result, the Church Father Street designation was chosen, and it remains in situ nowadays, though it’s typically cited because the Lysle avenue Bridge.
