Jejuri is a city and a municipal council in Pune district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is famous for the main temple of god Khandoba. The town is known for being the venue of one of the revered temples in the state, known as the Khandobachi Jejuri. The temple is dedicated to Khandoba, also known as Mhalsakant or Malhari Martand. Khandoba is regarded as the ‘God of Jejuri’ and is held in great reverence by the Dhangars, one of the oldest tribes in India. Jejuri Khandoba Temple can be easily divided into two separate parts – the Mandap and Gabhara.

Jejuri is one the popular pilgrim centres of Maharashtra, located 47-km from Pune. It houses a temple dedicated to Lord Khandoba. Khandoba, popularly known as Khandobachi Jejuri, is one of the important Gods worshipped by Dhangar, the oldest tribes in Maharashtra, Karnatak & Andhrapradesh. It is believed that Khandoba, is a god of Sakamabhakti i.e. it God who fulfils all the desires of his devotees. Jejuri is popular for its old Deep Mala. Jejuri has also been a historically important place as Shivaaji met his father Shahaji here after a long period. The meeting is historically very important as both discussed the strategies against Mughals. JEJURI is known as golden city.
